According to American Iron and Steel Institute, the US steel mills’ shipments totaled 8.48 million short tons in August, down by 0.1% from a month ago.
In August, the shipments of hot rolled sheets increased by 3%; those of hot dip galvanized steel strip climbed by 1% and those of cold rolled sheets reduced by 3%, all compared to the figures in a month ago.
During the first eight months, the shipments reached 65.75 million short tons, up by 2.7% from 64.01 million short tons in the same time of last year.
